College press conference '07 set
The 2007 Regional College Press Conference (COPRE) and Awards spearheaded by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) is set on November 29, 2006 here in Iloilo City.
The COPRE is an annual gathering of college paper writers who have been participants to the series of Basic Journalism seminar-Workshops conducted by the PIA, where they participate in writing contests in various categories.
For the last 32 years, the PIA has been recognizing outstanding student writers and publications with their significant contribution to the field of development journalism through the campus press.
PIA Regional Director Atty. Janet Mesa said that the COPRE is also a gauge of the application and impact of the journalism trainings the PIA has been conducting.
The COPRE activities include on-the-spot writing contests, judging of best school publications in the Best Magazine, Best Newspaper, Best Departmental Publication categories, as well as minor awards as Best in Editorial Page, Feature Page, Sports Page, Literary Page, News Page, and Editorial Cartoons, best newspaper/magazine layout and Best magazine Cover Design.
More than 200 college paper writers and editors are expected to participate in the COPRE '07, which will be held at the Iloilo Grand Hotel.
The highlights of the event will be the awarding of individual winners in the on-the-spot writing contests, the best publications and the MR. and Ms. COPRE Pageant, which will showcase brains, beauty and talents among the writers.
