Various flowering plants on display at nat'l. floriculture trade show
Exotic and rare flowering plant varieties beautify the Iloilo Provincial Capitol grounds as the 10th Philippine Floriculture Trade Show and Exhibits unfolded to public yesterday focusing on the theme "Philippine Horticulture: Bud, Blossom and Beyond."
Around 77 cutflower and ornamental plant growers/exhibitors from different areas of the country have joined in the Trade Show and Exhibits.
The 10th Philippine Floriculture Congress on the other hand will be held November 14-16 at Sarabia Manor Hotel, this city.
Iloilo Governor Niel Tupas, Sr. said during the opening program that"showcasing our floriculture products through trade show and exhibits can create spirit of competitiveness, linkages and networking between the buyers and the growers in the industry."
The governor encouraged new enthusiasts to engage in the floriculture industry as this offer an encouraging livelihood opportunity.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said that with the conduct of the 10th Floriculture Congress, Trade Show and Exhibits, "there's definitely bright future for this industry."
Treñas whose message was delivered by his representative further told the participants of the event that by employing best practices and improving floriculture marketing, the industry could get a bigger chunk of the market and increase its income.
"We are confident that this C0ngress will definitely look for ways to help floriculture producers access to more profitable markets and help improve their efficiency," Treñas said.
The Iloilo City Mayor hopes that the gathering of the cutflower and ornamental plant growers will enable them to come out with interesting and significant strategies to push the industry as one of the major sources of revenue for the country.
