City schools' power bills alarm Treñas
City Mayor Jerry Treñas expressed alarm over the high electric bills incurred by the different public schools in the city. The electric bills for the month of October already reached to P1.2 million.
Treñas said he has already called the attention of Iloilo City Superintendent of Schools head Erlinda Gencaya over the increase in the electric bills. He said in the recent billing statement, each school has incurred a bill of P30,000 per month.
He said the bills of each school with air-conditioned rooms and computer rooms could not be as high as P30,000. Not all the rooms in the public schools have air-conditioning units and the computer room is not used the entire week.
Treñas said he has already requested the Task Force Boltahe to check on the different lines in the city's public schools. He surmised, there must be unscrupulous individuals tapping power from the electrical lines of the schools.
