Cash claims up for over 13,000 oil-spill hit fisherfolks in Guimaras
Over 13,000 fisherfolks with pending cash claims over the oil-spill in Guimaras stand to receive checks ranging from P6,000 to P30,000 for lost earnings in twelve weeks. Whether the offer will be accepted or not though is yet another issue with officials of the International Oil Spill Compensation Fund (IOPC) out for "settlement talks" next week.

The 1st Leon Invitational Motocross
It was five months ago when a group of motorcycle aficionados in the municipality of Leon contracted the Cagalitan family to turn the scenic ala-delta lot along Sibalum River, fronting Baltazar-Aquino Bridge and Sitio Buntalan Hillsides into a Motocross track. From then on, every Saturdays and Sundays starting from July to early November, the area became filled with motorcycle riders practicing on manmade terrain and humps. The area became a haven and arena of thrill, fun, extraordinary and extreme adventure. |
US Meat Foodservice Seminar in Iloilo
The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF), a non-profit trade association that aims to promote U.S. Beef, pork, veal, lamb, processed meat and variety meats to the international market, was in the city last November 18, 2006 for a brief Foodservice Seminar and Cooking Demo. USMEF has been providing the international markets, from Moscow to Singapore, with high-quality corn-fed beef and pork for years. The association is funded and supported by the United States Government through the Unites States Department of Agriculture (USDA). |
