Divinagracia, Borja to join Treñas-Gonzalez tandem?
It seems that many personalities are interested to join the race for councilors in the city of Iloilo in next year's election. Two of them are San Agustin Barangay Capt. Bobby Divinagracia and PECO's Engr. Carlos Borja. They are reportedly joining the Treñas-Gonzalez slate.
Sources said Divinagracia and Borja are seeking an approval of Department of Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez to join the political line up under the Lakas party. Earlier, Divinagracia's name was also floated as one of the mayorables in the city.
Borja, on the other hand, was reportedly being pushed by some of the sectors in the city to run as councilor under Lakas party. This is the first time that Borja will enter the field of politics. Running as city councilor could not allegedly affect his work at PECO, the source said.
However, the duo's entry in the Lakas party is still subject of a convention among the Lakas leaders as well as supporters. Those councilorables who want to join the political ticket will be evaluated according to their winnability.
However, the inclusion of a candidate in the administration's political line up is not a guarantee that they will win or have a seat at the city council. In previous election, there are also candidates for councilors belonging to the Lakas party who failed to make it on the list.
This early, the would be candidates are monitoring all the surveys conducted by different radio stations here whether their names also ring to the ear of the voters. Apart from the names of present officials, there are also new names which cropped up in the list. Names of persistent losers also land on the survey sheets.
