Mayor's birthday blackout
Work at the Iloilo City Hall was stalled Monday morning because of a black out and not because of the birthday celebration of Mayor Jerry Treñas. Iloilo City Hall lost its power supply for almost three hours prompting employees to go out of their office.
The power resumed at about 1 p.m. The power failure was supposed to resume at 4 p.m. However, it was immediately acted by personnel of the Panay Electric Company Inc. (PECO).
The electricity resumed in time where most of the mayor's visitors are already done with their lunch. Lunch was served to some of the mayor's friends, department heads and several barangay captains inside the conference hall of the mayor's office. They have to open the glass windows to get a natural light and air.
Dr. Pacita Gonzalez, wife of Department of Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez, Councilor Julienne Baronda and her mother Dr. Julie Baronda also dropped by at the mayor's office to greet Treñas. City Engineer Marito Amatorio was their too.
Earlier that day, employees were treated with a snack after a mass at the city hall building. The chief executive celebrated his birthday recalling what he has done for the city and what he wants to do more for the development of the city.
