City allocates P699T for 'task forces'
The city government has allocated a total of P699,600 for six task forces whose existence are not felt by the public. Of the six task forces, Task Force Boltahe has the biggest budget which amounted to P224,000.
The six task forces are the Cooperative, Anti-Littering, Sidewalk, Jaywalking, ASIS and the Boltahe. The budget for the task forces was taken from the city's P166,093,463 supplemental budget number 5.
The Task Force ASIS which deals on illegal billboards comes next with P112,200 budget. The task force Anti-Littering, Sidewalk and Jaywalking has P99,000 each. The Task Force Cooperative has the least budget with P66,000.
Even the presence of members of the task force on anti-littering, sidewalk and jaywalking could not be seen by the public.
Some sectors believe the creation of these task forces are merely for "political accommodation."
Meanwhile, Ilonggos should expect a better flow of traffic in the city for this Christmas season after Mayor Jerry Treñas has also alloted P1,597,000 for its traffic control program for this month.
In the supplemental budget, it was not specified on what aspect of the traffic control program the amount is intended, whether for technical or mechanical aspect of the program.
It was not clear, whether the amount will also go to the "cash bonus" of traffic aides in the city.
