Endangered Ocean Sunfish dying due to 'sea mishap'
An endangered Ocean Sunfish washed ashore the Iloilo river is believed to be dying due to what Fishery officials said may have been caused by an accident at sea.
Weighing 25 kilograms and about six feet long, the Ocean Sunfish bore wounds consistent to that of a fishing boat's propeller.
Attention of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) here was called as experts rushed to check on the Ocean Sunfish's condition.
As of press time, no relief was extended to Ocean Sunfish as its condition was noticed to have significantly weakened.
Fishery officials have set up a 'perimeter fence' to guard the Ocean Sunfish from further harm.
