Cops, gun-owners warned vs. indiscriminate firing on Christmas, New Year
A stern warning has been issued on all policemen and civilian gun-owners on the firing of service firearms and all other licensed guns, a usual occurrence on Christmas and New Year's eve here.
Dismissal from service awaits "trigger-happy" cops found violating the order while cancellation and revocation of gun permits will be recommended on civilian gun-owners.
The order and reminder came anew from Chief Supt. Geary Barias, Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 Director with the ceremonial taping of PRO 6-issued firearms set today (Friday).
Barias further called on civilian tipsters and informants to report sightings of indiscriminate firing in order for police to immediately respond and get hold of the violators.
Meantime, a full alert has been ordered on all police detachments particularly in hinterland barangays throughout Western Visayas and Iloilo towns. This, as local forces of the Communist Party of the Philippines -- New People's Army are out to commemorate the yearly anniversary of the party.
Barias said all necessary precautions are in place with the police forces fully briefed on the internal security needed.
