Family driver shot dead in broad daylight killing
Residents in Commission Civil Street, Jaro, Iloilo City were disturbed yesterday by a broad daylight killing that left the family driver of one prominent family here brutally murdered.
Shot in close range and in front of his alleged girlfriend, the victim was identified by authorities as Francis "Gerome" Servando. The gunman immediately fled the crime scene and was subject of the hot pursuit police operation thereafter.
Probers are looking for a single male assailant said to be the former love interest of the victim's girlfriend Mary Grace Leaño.
Leaño also works in the same house as domestic helper.
Leaño, however, initially told the police that she could only identify the suspect by face.
The identity of the suspect was withheld pending police operation however intelligence sources told The News Today (TNT) positive identification was already made with the authorities confident of an arrest.
Family insiders reached on the scene disclosed to reporters of an earlier incident that had the victim report to police of an attempted entry in the employer's household last Friday.
Servando in a police blotter entry narrated how two unidentified men tried to barge in with one supposedly armed with a gun.
Other witness accounts told of the alleged harassments made by Leano's jilted lover linked to the forced entry of their employer's residence.
The 31 year-old victim died on the spot with a single gunshot wound on his head. Neighbors heard the cry for help of one female seconds before the gunshot followed.
