BARIAS
A former provincial police office director of Iloilo is set to make a comeback this time as the region's top cop.
This, as Chief Superintendent Geary Barias, Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 Director is reported to get a new assignment and a post in the national headquarters in Camp Crame. Though yet to be officially notified, the move is a promotion for Chief Supt. Barias from his position in the PRO to that in the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM).
Reached by Bombo Radyo for comment, Barias said he was only informed of the supposed new assignment by fellow police officers with the report heard through radio reports.
Till he gets the official notification, Barias said it is all work for him still at the PRO 6 yet he welcomed the entry of a classmate, Chief Superintendent Wilfredo Dulay.
Dulay once served as Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO) Director and known for his active field work and was highly visible all throughout police offices of the province.
The DIDM post for Barias is set to be vacated by Chief Supt. Eduardo Doromal who will assume a post with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
Barias assumed as PRO 6 regional director on August 2, 2006 replacing retired Chief Supt. Doroteo Reyes II who is now undersecretary of the Land Transportation Office.
Before serving PRO 6 Barias served as regional director of Caraga (Region 13). He also once served as chief of the Regional Intelligence and Investigation Division of PRO 6 and provincial director of Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office.
