All systems-go for Iloilo Provl Liga gab
Some 5,000 barangay officials from Iloilo's 1,721 barangays are expected as the city hosts on Thursday the 7th Provincial Liga Convention.
With Senate President Manny Villar on top of the forthcoming convention guests, confirmation was also reached on the arrival of Senator Richard "Dick" Gordon and Secretary Augusto "Boboy" Syjuco of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
With the theme "Citizen participation and neighborhood collaboration in the local development process, " Board Member Angelo Briones, Provincial Liga Federation President said that among the focus of this year's gab will be on the issues surrounding comprehensive juvenile justice and welfare system.
And it's "all systems go" Briones continued with last minute preparations and adjustments taken cared of over the weekend.
TESDA Secretary Syjuco will brief and update the liga assembly on the "Ladderized Education," -- the new President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's way.
Further still, the barangay officials will have a closer look on the government's insurance scheme in a dialogue set to be led by Josefina Valera, Senior Vice President, General Insurance Group of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Financial Center.
"Every year we take time out and gather together so the liga can be apprised of current government policies, programs and projects that we can bring back to our respective communities. With the massive preparations underway, we are hoping to have a bigger attendance than the previous years," Briones added.
