When will they ever stop?
The longevity of Gov. Niel D. Tupas, Sr. in more than three decades of public service has eventually triggered his political rivals to seek the assistance of the Office of the Ombudsman, hence the decision of dismissing him as governor.
It has been a common knowledge any possible aspirant to contest his incumbency would be committing a "hara kiri."
I don’t think the likes of former Congressman Oscar Garin would ever dare run again against Tupas after he was fatally wounded in the last elections.
Garin is considered a political giant, a strategist and a genius at par. As far as his fanatical followers in the 1st District are concerned his word is gospel truth. He has the machinery, the organization, a strong bailiwick, the resources and the right connections from the powers that be.
But having all these considerations is no guarantee for a sure-fire.
The moment of truth came out, at the early hour of ballot counting a trend was right away established favoring the incumbent governor for another term extension.
The rivals have done their best, and their worst too, to ruin the good name of the man inside the capitol.
All the black propaganda they can ever think of have been ultimately utilized to cover up their own misdeeds and inadequacy thinking it would serve as their passport to occupy the capitol.
The enemies focused more on the alleged thievery committed by the capitol occupant by mass producing a list of over-priced items, such as soap dish, toilet bowls, towel rack, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera…
True enough, the fanatics believe them without question. Yet, at the same time they were outnumbered by the people with decency in the whole province of Iloilo who believes otherwise.
At the last minute, the defection of one of their kinds has further empowered the political strength of Tupas. Niel from the start has smelled the rot of this man, but just the same he made a temporal alliance with this devil in disguise with no string attached. After all, he has nothing to lose but a lot to gain as far as political victory is concerned.
Some people may wonder why Niel accepted with wide open arms this infamous intruder whom they call Prosac Man who was responsible for his persecution over the Turil Ni Niel controversy.
Unknown to many, it was exactly for this reason Niel made a temporal pact purposely to unmask his political enemies of their motives. And look what they have done, Virginia? He became a national director, and made his wife as a substitute. It’s a double whammy putting their hands in an orchestrated movement inside a cookie jar.
And here comes another young aspirant making himself an impostor governor out of greed for power and hunger for instant fame. Installed by a bogus order from a pygmy (to borrow the word from Atty. Pet Melliza) Ombudsman Chair Ma. Mercidetas N. Gutierrez and sworn-in by a certain DILG Asec. Wencelito Andanar, he thought and believed he is the legitimate governor at present.
Yet, when the same Andanar ordered him to go back to his old position after the Office of the Governor was able to obtain a temporary restraining order (TRO), the impostor strongly defied what was proper and legal.
As of late, rumor mongering started to show its ugly fangs, spreading word again that Gov. Niel D. Tupas, Sr., would be receiving another dismissal order.
The more they threat the governor, the more it gives him strength, morally and spiritually. The more people sympathize and support him.
Oh, when will they ever stop? If they only knew, God loves the underdog?
