Ombudsman Region VI caravan 2007
The Ombudsman Iloilo Caravan 2007 is a pioneer activity of the Ombudsman Regional Office, Iloilo City, for Year 2007. It aims to promote the main objectives and thrust of the office and to bring to the countryside the Office of the Ombudsman.
The first part of the activity is a Public Accountability Forum which shall be participated in by public school teachers, municipal officers and barangay officials. The second part of the activity will be open to the public and shall include rendering of public assistance through receiving of Request for Assistance, acceptance of Ombudsman clearance applications, receiving of complaints and rendering legal advice to the public.
The municipalities of the first district of Iloilo, namely, Tigbauan, Guimbal and Miagao are the caravan participants.
Miagao Mayor Gerardo Flores, will give the word of welcome, Tigbauan Mayor Myrna M. Torres will introduce the guest speaker and Guimbal Mayor Richard S. Garin will give the closing remarks.
The Miagao Cultural Center will be the venue of Ombudsman Caravan 2007 and the program will start at 9:30 am, Tuesday, February 27, 2007. About 300 participants from the three towns with 100 participants from each town comprising 30 municipal officials, 50 public school teachers and 20 barangay officials.
It is always the dilemma of the new Ombudsman office in Iloilo City that only a few members of the society are being catered to the Ombudsman-Iloilo Caravan 2007 will effectively promote the office of the Ombudsman and eventually make its presence strongly felt not only in Iloilo but in the entire Western Visayas region. OIC Deputy Ombudsman for Visayas Virginia P. Santiago will be the guest speaker and she will speak on Public Accountability Forum and O-Plan Red Plate.
