Dulay warns cops against NPA hitmen
Chief Supt. Wilfredo V. Dulay Sr.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 Director Chief Supt. Wilfredo V. Dulay Sr. called on all policemen in the region to be always on guard against rebel insurgents lurking in their places of duty.
This warning came after two policemen in Luzon were killed in separate incidents last week by alleged members of the communist New People's Army (NPA).
Police Senior Insp. Alberto Tunacao, chief of police of Pio V. Corpuz, Masbate was gunned down by alleged rebels last March 2 while on his way home.
On the same day retired policeman Senior Insp. Cirpriano Lachica was shot to death by thre armed men believed to be NPA members outside his residence in Bulan, Sorsogon.
Dulay directed all field commanders to always remind their subordinates to take proactive and reactive measures to guard themselves from ambush or liquidation being waged by the communist rebels and other armed groups against any PNP personnel.
"The NPA wants to show the public that they remain a force to reckon with; hence, these nefarious activities against our men," he explained.
The directive also includes among others the re-orientation of police personnel assigned in the different field units to be always on their guard especially now that the PNP is at the forefront in the fight against the insurgents and to be suspicious and fully aware of what is happening in their surroundings.
