POEA re-opens EPS Korea registration
The registration for Employment Permit System for those who want to work in Korea has been re-opened, according to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) based here in this city.
Based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Department of Labor and Employment and the Ministry of Labor (MOL) of Korea, the POEA is the only authorized government agency designated to undertake the recruitment of workers for the EPS.
Under the EPS, all applicants, including those who had previously registered are required to register under the EPS Korea on-line registration system done initially at the POEA.
Applicants must be: high school graduates and college undergraduates with at least two years experience or college graduates with at least 1-year work experience; must have been born not earlier than 1969 to comply with the maximum age requirement of 38 years old and must be ready to take the required Korean Language Test (KLT).
Those who are interested to register are required to secure the following: valid NBI clearance, passport or NSO-authenticated birth certificate, school diploma or transcript of records, employment certificate and 1 piece 2x2 picture on red background with name tag.
According to the POEA-Iloilo advisory, the job openings are for manufacturing and construction workers. The registration is for free and there will be no placement fee for selected workers.
Data obtained from POEA revealed that since the start of the EPS until December 7, 2006, the POEA has deployed a total of 14, 256 workers to Korea. Filipinos are said to be the nationality of choice by many Korean employers.
The strong Overseas Filipino Workers' remittances, growing investment and peak international reserves along with surging confidence in the Philippine economy across the board are driving the track of excellence and productivity among the people, putting out the political noise to the background and increasing the flow down of economic benefits to the social level.
In line with this, interested applicants are reminded that it is only the POEA which is authorized to facilitate the deployment of Filipino workers to Korea and for them not to fall into offers of illegal recruiters who may take advantage of the opening.
