2 city cops face misconduct raps
Two cops of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) are under investigation with possibility of facing grave misconduct raps on last week's 'encounter' with a driver of a local bank's armored van.
Both then off-duty and in civilian clothes, PO2 Reynaldo Dequiña and PO1 Jona Mahinay were reported to have 'attacked' the complainant-driver Arsenio Ayco following a minor traffic accident.
The incident occurred Friday evening along Solis Street, Iloilo City Proper witnessed by a responding traffic investigator. The duo hurriedly left the traffic scene as alarm was then sent out in all police offices particularly after the two were seen and confirmed to be armed.
Police checkpoint in Barangay Dungon-A, Jaro District intercepted the two where corresponding check revealed their identities.
With the election gun ban period strictly enforced, the two city cops were immediately reported to their superiors that got Senior Superintendent Wesley Barayuga, ICPO director to order an investigation.
Probe results are expected this week.
Dueñas brgy capt, 2 others in 'hot water' for mauling incident
A village chief in the Municipality of Dueñas, Iloilo and his two other male associates are in 'hot water' over a reported mauling incident that involved a minor.
With numerous locals expressing disgust over the incident and manifesting open support to the victim's family, radio reports tagged Barangay Sawi Barangay Captain Nicolas Castor and pals Leo Daquipil and Benjie Luis as those responsible for physically manhandling one Cris Bansiloy.
The victim's sister, Melody told reporters that the family are bent on pursuing the charges against the trio particularly since the attack was unprovoked and totally uncalled for.
It was not clear what got the ire of the barangay captain however reports said the victim first approached him to ask for help late Saturday evening. Minutes thereafter, the victim-complainant told authorities that he was grabbed in the neck and allegedly beaten.
