Dulay confirms reshuffling of some police chiefs
Chiefs of police in several Iloilo towns would undergo reshuffling as part of preparations for the upcoming May 14 elections.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 director Chief Supt. Wilfredo Dulay Sr. said he is just awaiting the decision of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on their recommendation.
Dulay named the police chiefs of San Miguel, Lambunao and Estancia as the subjects of the initial reshuffling. Insp. Nicholas Anas of San Miguel PNP will be replaced by Insp. Elmer Armada of Lambunao PNP, while Insp. Willy Diel will take over the post to be vacated by Insp. Armada; and Senior Insp. Alejandro Apostol Jr. will replace Insp. Ramir Gallardo of Estancia Police Station.
Estancia is one of the towns in the region being monitored by the Comelec and the PNP because of the intense political rivalry between Mayor Rene Cordero and retired PNP General Restituto Mosquesda. T
Dulay said several policemen will be relieved from their posts even before the deadline of the filing of candidacy ends this March 19.
Meanwhile, more policemen will be deployed in some areas of immediate concern, particularly in Estancia, Iloilo to maintain police visibility and to step-up the implementation of Comelec Resolutions such as gun ban and conduct of checkpoints.
Dulay has ordered the downloading of a total of one hundred (100) policemen from the 6th Regional Mobile Group to augment the PNP strength in the municipality of Estancia, Iloilo and other election areas of immediate concern.
