Routes
God, Gengos and Gonzalez
The wicked man is overthrown by his wickedness, but the just man finds a refuge in his honesty. -- Proverbs 14: 32
I was glad to see my first article on Candle Light (CL). I was attracted to the paper proclamation in the masthead saying: "We, the children, of God in the Parish of Jaro, in seeking to promote His Kingdom, envision a Christ-centered, participatory, enlightened Filipino church that is evangelizing, missionary, committed toward total human development by witnessing and working for justice, unity, and social transformation."

"Ask for Chance. Give Chance." on CL was more meaningful than anything I was paid to write. It was more meaningful than my getting hired to write for a Philippine president, the World Bank and the United Nations. It gave me the pride more than having papers accepted in those "difficult-to-pass" international conferences. I was now writing for the publication of God. It was a chance for me to use writing in the service of The Almighty Writer.

On the opposite page was the column "Social Conscience" by Msgr. Meliton Oso, which had the article entitled "Ang Napulo ka Sugo sa Tama nga Pagboto. I will translate it as "The Ten Commandments of the Right of Suffrage."

On the 3rd Sunday of Lent, "Social Conscience" was already on the :IKA-APAT NGA SUGO: HIBALUON MO ANG MGA ISYU, PLATAPORMA, KAG PROGRAMA SANG MGA KANDIDATO KAG PARTIDO. I will translate this as: "THE FOURTH COMMANDMENT: KNOW THE ISSUES, PLATFORMS AND PROGRAMS OF THE CANDIDATES AND THE PARTIES."

With my commitment to respectable campaigns and an honorable electoral process, it came to mind that I use the space of my column "Routes" as an objective venue for this Christian purpose. We often use the term "high level" for this.

I happened to have a conversation with Atty. Gengos in a coffee shop. I wanted to tell him that the contest here is between Sen. Drilon and Secretary Gonzalez, not actually between him and Cong. Jun, but did not. Cong. Jun is his father's son. Atty Gengos is Sen. Drilon's confidant candidate.

I knew Gengos to be a name that has become synonymous with good governance. "Indi kurakot. May prinsipyo"(Not corrupt. Principled.) He was the only one not accused before the Ombudsman for the infamous Pavia Housing Project, Gengos is a rare breed in politics. He promised to put out his platform. I am also requesting Cong. Jun to do the same so the electorate will know. Please communicate through emails: alain_russ_dimzon@yahoo.com /argdimzon@gmail.com or mobile 09107644658.Cong. Jun, you may also channel it through your brother Dennis' good friend Carlo Panila of the National Book Development Board (NBDB), also a good friend of mine.
