PIA awards DevJourn writers
The Philippine Information Agency in Western Visayas cited 43 student paper writers for their performance in development journalism for school years 2005-2006 and 2006-2007, with the 2007 IWAG Award.
These 43 students came from Iloilo, 16; Aklan, 5; Antique, 2; Capiz,6; Negros Occidental, 13; and Guimaras, 1, who are graduating editors and writers of their respective publications.
The IWAG Award is the highest among the PIA 6 recognition schemes for student writers who excel in development writing and have been actively involved in communication-related activities, as well as a regular participant to the yearly Basic Journalism Seminar-Workshops conducted by the PIA.
Topping the 16 awardees from Iloilo is Victor Robinson III of Ateneo de Iloilo, with a rating of 93.5, followed by Scott James Roxas of WVSU, 91.5 and Rodenie Olete, of the Iloilo Doctors College, 90.5. The other awardees are: Jane Dianne Castor, Jazelle Marie Nufable, and Catherine Sia of Ateneo de Iloilo; Ashere Nisseth Equina, CPU Development High School; Ivan L. Lawag, WVSU College of Education; Rolando Montehermoso, SICP-Miagao; Shahin Khabbaz, CPU Central Echo; Michael Christian Parel, WVSU College of Nursing; Nowell Patrick Arnill Relatos, WVSU-Forum Dimension; Katrina Rae Rose, WVSU College of Arts and Sciences; Frances Salgado, University of Iloilo; Ability Ann Tacaisan, Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus; and Lilibeth Candel, WVCST. The lone nominee from Guimaras State College, Rhea Lustan is also an awardee, with a rating of 91.0.
The awardees will receive a citation and a gold medal which shall be given during their Recognition Day.
