2 Iloilo schools selected to conduct special review for nurses
Two nursing schools here in the city have been selected to conduct Special Review Classes for nurses licensed under the June 2006 Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE) who want to participate in the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) initiated special voluntary re-take examination set on June 11, 2007.
DOLE 6 Information Officer Amy Judicpa said these schools are St. Paul University - Iloilo, identified as one of the the Regional Centers of Excellence (COE) coordinating schools and West Visayas State University listed as one of the participating nursing schools in the program.
The special review program is a series of classes covering the topics included in Tests III and V of the June 2006 Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE). Test III relates to Care of Clients with Physiologic and Psychosocial Alterations (a) (Medical Surgical Nursing) while Test V relates to Care of Clients with Physiologic and Psychosocial Alterations (c) (Psychiatric Nursing).
Judicpa said the enrollment for the review classes will be on a first-come first-served basis while registration begins on March 21 until April 4, 2007.
Applicants have two options to register in the program, either on-line or manual. For on -line registration, just visit www.specialnursingreview.dole.gov.ph and follow the instruction. On the other hand, for manual registration, applicants have to secure a registration form from any DOLE regional and provincial offices or any identified Centers of Excellence and selected nursing schools, fill it up with the necessary information and submit the form and get a copy of registration.
Prior to the special review class, applicants will be notified through their contact number or email by the COE or selected nursing schools for them to secure a copy of their proof of confirmation which will be presented during the first meeting of the review. However, applicants who have not received notifications two weeks prior to their scheduled date of review are advised to visit the DOLE offices or the participating nursing schools.
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo through Executive Order No. 609 has allocated P20 million fund to be used for this special review program.
Labor and Employment Secretary Arturo Brion said that the results of this voluntary retake shall not affect the license already issued by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) to those who passed the June 2006 examination.
According to Brion in a press report that the voluntary retake is meant only to enhance the employability of nurses licensed under the June 2006 NLE and qualify them for VisaScreen Certificate of the U.S. Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS).
