Barely a day after arriving from Canada, a 50 year-old balikbayan fell victim to the modus operandi of the notorious Budol-Budol gang.
The victim was identified as Filipino-Canadian citizen Rosemarie Gellera of San Jose, Antique.
In a report, The News Today (TNT) gathered that Gellera was on her way to see a family member yesterday morning and minutes into her walk she was approached by a man who introduced himself as a balikbayan himself.
The male suspect got the woman victim into a conversation saying he knew her son Jason. Albeit in wonder since she left for Canada decades back with her son only six years old then, Gellera continued to engage in said talk until another woman approached and sought their help.
The two were apparently cohorts and in the end, Gellera lost he P5,000 in cash to the duo, a 24-karat necklace, pair of earrings and Nokia cellphone worth at least P20,000.
