Akelco attains A+ category award
Lezo,Aklan- Despite the massive devastation of its electric distribution system on the last quarter of 2006 by super typhoons in the province, The Aklan Electric Cooperative Inc. (Akelco) has maintained its category A + status along with 52 other electric cooperatives in the country.
For three consecutive years, Akelco maintained its position at the top after garnering a total score of 90 points on the final result of Calendar Year 2006 Electric Cooperative Categorization and Classification approved by the National Electrification Administration headed by Edita S. Bueno, NEA administrator on March 20, 2007.
Akelco's highest score was 22 points for achieving a 13% systems loss average including a one point incentive.
It also collected a total of 20 points for being current in its amortization. It was able to get another 15 points for registering a 96% collection efficiency and another 10 points for keeping its "non-power costs" within the approved levels.
Another major factor for that classification was the point incentive on the barangay energization gaining another 9 points. It would be recalled that there are six more barangays that were energized by Akelco last year. Mostly from the far-flung barangays in the municipality of Libacao including one barangay in Libertad Antique.
Akelco serves the 17 towns of Aklan including the world-renowned island-resort of Boracay and the towns of Libertad and Pandan in Antique.
Akelco has a total of number of 91, 375 registered member-consumers. It continues to fulfill its commitment through the collective effort of the Board of Directors, Management and staff to provide its end-users with a reliable and adequate power supply in the whole coverage area.
