16 DAR-Aklan scholars get diplomas
Kalibo, Aklan -- The first batch of the President Diosdado Macapagal Agrarian Reform Scholars (PDMASP) composed of 16 scholars will march to receive their respective diplomas from various institutions here in Aklan, 3 of whom will finish their Bachelor's degree with academic honors namely, Cecile M. Maquirang, Cum Laude, BS Agriculture from the Aklan State University (ASU) - Banga Campus, Michelle M. Isada and Niña Fe R. Tejada both Cum Laude, Bachelor in Secondary Education, ASU-Makato Campus.
PDMASP is an innovative human resource development activity initiated by the DAR to support the beneficiary development program of CARP. It provides free 4-year college scholarship grant to dependents of poor but deserving beneficiaries of the agrarian reform program. The scholarship benefits include free tuition and miscellaneous school fees per semester to be paid directly to the school, a monthly stipend of P1,000.00 and book allowance.
With these developments, Atty. Daniel Martelino-PARO Aklan, underscored the need to strengthen and support the extension of the program as holistic approach to total development of an agrarian reform farmer is being undertaken by the DAR. With the 16 graduates coming from the families of the farmers, DAR-Aklan is proud that sustaining rural development is already manifested in the different programs of DAR-Aklan.
The rest of the graduates from the Aklan State University are Jonas Andrade - BS Industrial Technology, Maricel Andrade - BS Home Technology, Lenlen Dominguez - Bachelor in Secondary Education, Leah Fernando - Bachelor in Elementary Education, Lyn-lyn Inisa - BS Home Technology, Clarissa Isturis - BS Agriculture, Roilan Milaño - Bachelor in Secondary Education, Lani Narral- Bachelor in Agricultural Technology (BAT), Ma. Glaiza Ningal - BAT, Reynold Peralta -- Bachelor in Secondary Education, Lohnjy Roberto -- BS Agriculture, Vigel Tacud -- BSE, Rosalie Verano- BS Agriculture. Another batch of twelve scholars is set to finish their courses next school year.
