Tindahan Natin operation to be intensified
Operation of Tindahan Natin Outlets (TNOs) will be intensified during the summer months to ensure availability of enough rice.
This was according to Mary Ann Masculino, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Office 6 focal person for TNO implementation, who also said in an interview that they are acting fast to respond to the growing demand for rice.
Masculino said they are now intensifying the operation of the 575 TNOs scattered in Western Visayas.
These TNOs are in Negros Occidental, 198; Capiz, 30; Antique, 84; Aklan, 82; and Iloilo, 181.
For his part, National Food Authority Iloilo Provincial Director Heddy Jardeleza said the 68,000 sacks of Vietnamese imported rice are now in their warehouse ready for distribution to the Tindahan Natin outlets.
These sacks of rice are part of the 320,000 total sacks of imported rice expected to arrive in preparation for the lean months.
NFA has enough buffer stock to ensure that there would be rice available during lean months, Jardeleza said.
