Be a Red Cross member and celebrate Red Cross Red Crescent Day
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement represent the world's largest humanitarian network, whose mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. The National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), together constitute the said Movement, as well as the large number of volunteers.
Every year, on May 8, the Movement marks World Red Cross Red Crescent Day. The theme of this year's event is "Together for Humanity," emphasizing the role of its staff and volunteers in saving lives and assisting vulnerable communities around the world. The theme also stresses that the key to helping people help themselves, as well as bringing comfort and hope to families suffering in crises is working together and working with others.
On this event, Maria Gracia Chua, Administrator of the Philippine National Red Cross -- Iloilo Chapter encourages the Ilonggos to be part of a Photo Exhibit of the Red Cross Activities and Services and Health/BP Screening. This will be at the Activity Area, SM City, Iloilo from May 7-9, 2007.
The Iloilo Chapter also encourages more Ilonggos to be members of the Red Cross at a registration fee of either P35.00 (classic), P100.00 (Premier Bronze), P300.00 (Premier Silver), P500.00 (Premier Gold) or P1,000 (Premier Platinum). This membership with the PNRC promotes strong partnerships with the Filipinos so that the PNRC is able to respond to disasters and emergencies, provide safe blood and train lifesavers.
