Orientation on health programs for new officials mulled
While Election Returns are still being canvassed to officially determine the winners in the May 14 elections, the Department of Health (DOH VI) expressed readiness to conduct orientation on government's health program for the would be new local government officials.
This was assured by DOH VI Director Lydia Depra-Ramos when asked what would happen to the health programs implemented by the local officials should they lose the May 14 elections.
Director Ramos said that they are ready for any changes of leadership in the local government units, and the more important thing is that the DOH VI- Center for Health and Development would make sure that the health programs initiated by the previous officials will be sustained.
Assistant Regional Director Edgardo Gonzaga said that the DOH-CHD VI has already scheduled a conference for whoever will be new officials, and it is set sometime in June or July 2007.
Meanwhile, President Arroyo expects political stability to reign in the country as a result of the generally peaceful and fair elections last Monday that would pave the way for her administration's continued economic reforms towards "our pro-growth, pro-poor and pro-modernization agenda."
Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye on the other hand urged for an end to divisiveness and passions brought about by the heat of the campaign period.
"As we await the results of the elections, let us remember that the most important contribution each of us can make now is to support those who have been democratically elected and leave the passions and divisions behind us," the Press Secretary said.
