Army to plant 1M trees for Guinness
The Philippine Army will attempt to get a world record for a nationwide simultaneous planting of 1million trees for one and a half-hours on June 29.
Here in Negros Occ., the 303rd Infantry Brigade with its government and civilian partners will plant more than 10,000 trees at Mt. Kanlaon National Park, Sto. Balasyang, Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia, Deputy Brigade Commander Col. Romeo Fajardo, said.
Other military units including the 61st I.B. and the 11st I.B. will each contribute to the program by planting 10,000 tress, he added.
In a recent meeting at the Multi-Purpose Gym Fajardo told PIA that the Army is supporting President Gloria M. Arroyo's Green Philippines Program that also serves to educate the children in appreciating the value to trees in protecting the environment.
Negotiations are now underway enjoining tertiary schools and other institutions to the event.
