Negrense scholar qualifies as TOSP national finalist
Negros Occidental -- Pagkaon Scholarship Program grantee Cherrie Atilano was chosen as one of the 30 finalists to the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP).
The annual TOSP search aims to recognize students who do not only excel academically but also in extra co-curricular activities including community service. The final screening will be on June 29 to July 24, while the awarding ceremony will be on July 5 at Malacañang Palace.
Cherrie Atilano, was selected from among the 275 nominees all over the country. She is the youngest child of Charlito and Annabella Atilano of Brgy. Eustaquio Lopez, Silay City. She graduated magna cum laude from Leyte State University in Baybay, Leyte last April, with a degree of BS in Agriculture major in tissue culture.
Atilano was a recipient of various awards namely the Leadership Award, LSU Outstanding Student Award, Breeders' Award, Gov. Marañon Medal of Academic Excellence and Gov. Petilla's Academic Excellence Award.
Atilano said she is very happy to represent her school in the finals and very proud to say that she is a Negrense representing Region 8.
She thanked the provincial government of Negros Occidental for sending her to Leyte as a provincial scholar.
