Public urged to use 4-S against dengue
Roxas City -- Health officials have urged the public to strictly observe the 4 S of the anti-dengue campaign.
These preventive measures include search and destruction of places where the mosquito can breed; self protection measures like the use of insect repellant and others; seek early medical treatment; and say no to indiscriminate fogging, the Department of Health (DOH) announced.
Provincial Sanitary Inspector Jane delos Reyes of Capiz warns the public to double their effort in conducting environmental cleanliness and sanitation amidst the onset of the rainy season since there were more recorded cases in the province even during this summer season.
Delos Reyes disclosed that with the increasing number of dengue cases, the municipal health officials are stepping up their efforts in conducting school and community-based advocacy campaigns.
She added that in most towns here, they have tapped the church to help in the campaign against dengue fever by reminding the public to observe the 4 o'clock habit of conducting daily clean-up drive.
Recently, DOH revealed that there is 6.8 percent increase in the number of dengue cases nationwide or total of 7,361 with 73 deaths since January 1 to June 2 this year compared to the same period in 2006 with 6,695 cases.
