Ex-councilor's staff fail to get salaries
Merci Drilon-Garcia
Six legislative staff officers of former Councilor Merci Drilon-Garcia sought legal advice from the City Legal Office (CLO) after they failed to get their salaries since the time the lady councilor left the country.
The employees, whose identities are withheld, still await the legal opinion of City Legal Office chief Edgar Gil regarding their unclaimed salaries. It was not, however, determined if how much is the amount involved and how many months the said employees were not given their salaries.
A source told The News Today that the matter is now with the CLO and its legal advice would come out soon.
Garcia along with her husband Barangay Capt. Gilbert Garcia migrated to Canada. She went on leave last March 29, 2007 and left her office to newly elected Vice Mayor Jed Mabilog. Her first notice of leave was dated March 29 to May 11, 2007. A copy of her leave of absence was provided to former Vice Mayor Guillermo de la Llana.
On May 4, 2007, Garcia again filed another notice for leave of absence from May 12 to June 30, 2007. She extended her leave of absence and authorized Mabilog to continue of taking care of her office and same time transact business and sign documents in her behalf.
