School to get P1 M for topping NAT
For topping the National Achievement Test (NAT) in the elementary level in the region, Mayor Jerry Treñas will give P1 million worth of projects to the Nabitasan Elementary School in La Paz.
Treñas, who was elated by the result, said this scheme will encourage other schools to do better in the National Achievement Test.
Results of the recent NAT revealed that Nabitasan Elementary School ranked second in the entire Western Visayas.
Iloilo City schools got low results in the previous NAT ranking number 15 in the region.
The NAT includes reading and writing comprehensions and mathematical abilities. The previous result of the NAT gave the chief executive a headache since education is on his priority list.
The chief executive has asked donations from different non-government organizations like the Ayala Foundation and Caltex Philippines to help improve the education system in the city through the aid of computers, books and other reading materials that could help the children.
A close coordination was also made through the City Divisions Schools to help the children in uplifting their capabilities in reading and writing comprehensions as well as mathematical abilities.
