Representatives from the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) in Molo yesterday met with the parish priest of St. Anne Parish to ask for a consideration with regard to an earlier resolution passed by the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) calling for the regulation of commercial activities in Molo plaza.
ABC Molo District President Segundina Morales along with Barangay Captains Leo Aristoza of North Fundidor and Jocelyn Hormina of Taal sought audience with parish priest Rev. Fr. Tom Delicana to discuss things relative to the holding of carnivals and commercial activities inside and outside the Molo plaza as part of the district's upcoming patronal fiesta.
Morales, during the dialog, told Fr. Delicana that she did not have any idea that the PPC wanted a regulation of kiosks and carnivals in Molo plaza. She said, they could have talked about it before vendors started occupying the area.
Nevertheless, Morales assured Fr. Delicana that they will maintain cleanliness inside the plaza. She said, each occupant would be required to have their own sack as garbage bag.
Morales also informed the priest that they will not allow any transient "ukay-ukay" vendors to place their stuff in front of the church or in areas used as passage ways. The transient vendors usually peddle their wares on passage ways every Saturday and Sunday.
In the course of the dialog, Hormina requested Fr. Delicana to pinpoint the portion of the plaza which they want to be free of stalls or kiosks. But, part of the area which the priest wants to clear has already been occupied.
The priest wanted to have a clear view of the church facade which is overlooking the mansion of Timoteo Consing.
Rev. Delicana, however, did not insist on removing the kiosks already occupying the area as there are no more available areas where they could be transferred.
In an interview, Rev. Delicana said he gave consideration to the occupants as they still came from different places to peddle their wares inside the Molo plaza.
He just wanted for the vendors to have an orderly placement of the structures as well as the things they sell.
He even asked the ABC to initiate measures in making all the "ukay-ukay" kiosks neat and orderly to look at. The "ukay-ukay" kiosks are located outside the plaza.
He also allowed the owners of the rolling stores to continue their operation. However, he said, they should clean their areas and keep all their belongings such as beddings during daytime. Some owners of the rolling stores sleep inside the plaza.
The priest also wants that the sound system as well as videokes should be turned off whenever there is a mass.
