Fairness in police recruitment
Only 381 of the 700 PNP applicants survived the two initial stages of recruitment: Agility and Neuro-Psychiatric Tests. Expect the number to dramatically decrease even before the Board Interview comes.
It is a fact that the PNP is the most sought employment today. The number of applicants every recruitment would attest to this claim. For years now, hundreds and even a thousand of young professionals flock at Camp Delgado hoping to qualify in the recruitment that comes only once or twice yearly. And, unfortunately for many, they did not make it even after several tries. There were latin awardees (cum laude, magna cum laude) in college or graduates in top universities who were denied admission. They could have become assets to the PNP but their qualifications were not all to meet our standard. This, for many the recruitment and selection process for the police service defy the bar of logic.
However, contrary to the contention of many, the PNP seeks for applicants who do not only have a sound mind, or physical competency, or emotional stability. The PNP needs applicants who have all: sound mind, physical competency and emotional stability. This is so because the police recruits undergo rigors of training: physical, emotional, intellectual and psychological. Therefore, we cannot simply take the risk. We have to follow the procedure. We need to comply with the requirements. We must select only those, who based on our criteria, are suited for police training and eventually for police work. And, we believe, that is fair enough.

T.S.I.P
Soon this month Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 will hold Talakayan Sa Isyung Pulis, a TV program thru Sky Cable and CPU Alumni Channel.
T.S.I.P. is the pet project of Chief, PNP Oscar C Calderon, which was conceptualized to provide the public a venue to air their sentiments and for the PNP to openly tackle issues and concerns which affect directly or indirectly the peace and order situation not only of the region but of the country.
The PRO 6 is very grateful for the support and cooperation of the Pilipino Cable Corporation (Sky Cable) and the Central Philippine University (CPU) Alumni Channel for the realization of the project.
It is our hope that the T.S.I.P. program would serve its purpose well with the patronage of viewers.
I particularly encourage everyone to feel free in sending their feedbacks, suggestions, comments, complaints, or requests for police assistance through "Dalangpan", a segment in the program that caters these particulars. "Dalangpan" hotlines are: Telefax - (033) 337-8182 / 337-9300; Mobile - (0920) 302-5828; and, E-mail address - pio_pro6@yahoo.com.ph.
With this recent development, I am confident that the police and community partnership in Western Visayas would be strengthened for the prevention and solution of crimes and other threats to our peace and order and progress.
