Eye Opener
An honest man is noblest creation of God
When a verdict of guilty is handed down on a corrupt government official either by the Ombudsman or the Presidential Anti-Graft Commission (PAGC) he will normally cry, "there is no justice." The investigation has dragged on for months and even years and no doubt the party to the crime has been given a fair chance to present his evidences. It seems strange that when a verdict is handed down, the crooked official will protest and cry "foul".
Government officials have all the opportunity to get rich quick if they want to. With their vast power and influence on clienteles such as private corporations and rich individuals who may have "atraso" with their taxes and other transactions with the government, usually a compromise is entered into. Good if the proceeds of compromise agreement will benefit the government and not the individual government official. It is mostly unlikely that the government official will be charged on the compromise settlement involving huge sum of money if the agreement benefited the government. But parties are clever enough that the illegal transaction done in the dark is not uncovered.
When the crooked government official years later starts buying hectares of farmland, apartment buildings, expensive cars, jewelries, condominium and maintain common law wives and wealth is much more than a year or even three years salaries, then the truth will be revealed in the filing of Statement of Assets and Liabilities. If he did not include all the values of properties, jewelries, cars, etc., the truth will come out during the investigation.
Many of the top government officials are devoted church goers. They attend masses once a day or seven times a week, take communion and yet the important commandment of God, "You shall not steal," Matthew 10:18 remains empty in their heart. They attend value development in government and private seminars and yet their value is distorted when it comes to honesty and integrity. God abhors the sinners but love the righteous. Pentecostal (born again) and Catholic Christians who maintain their integrity in both government and private employment despite the temptations, their reward is great in heaven!
