100 wheelchairs to benefit indigent city paraplegics
A total of 100 wheelchairs are set to be donated to 100 indigent paraplegics in Iloilo City within this month.
Vice Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the wheelchairs were facilitated by his cousin, Pastor Bong Mabilog from the 700 Club Asia through its Operation Blessing in a move to help indigent handicapped here who could not afford to buy a wheelchair.
The distribution of the wheelchairs will be held on Aug. 24 at the Jaro covered gym and applicants should beat the deadline by Aug. 10 so as to avail of the donation.
Mabilog said the applicant should be between 6 to 60 years old, indigent with minimal means of support, with full body picture, must have a medical certificate from the city health office and has undergone a case study by a social worker.
Not qualified are patients with communicable diseases like tuberculosis which rendered them invalid.
The wheelchair project is under the auspices of the Haligi Foundation whose founding chair is Mabilog.
