City allocates P34 M for electricity bills
Seventy-five percent of the Supplemental Budget No. 3 approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod recently is for the city's electricity bills. The SB No. 3 amounted to P45,492,392.
The city's electricity expenses from April to August 2007 amounted to P34,000,000. The city has a pending payable of P15 million to the Panay Electric Company Inc. (PECO). Approximately, the city government is paying from P6 million to P8 million every month for its power needs.
The bigger slice of the supplemental budget will also go to the computerization program of the city government. Some P3.7 million is allocated as the city's counterpart in the World Bank-funded computerization program.
In the same supplemental budget, the rental expenses for the heavy equipment from July to August 2007 amounted to P2,534,400. And for the Phase 1- of the Material Recovery Facility/Composting Facility, Site Development and Closure in Calajunan, the city government allocated P1,461,755.
The fund allocated to the office of Mayor Jerry Treñas amounted to P843,819.50. It covers the chief executive's representation expenses, office supplies expenses and capital outlay. The printing of Information Educational Campaign materials of the city government has an allocation of P495,000.
While, the city's financial assistance for land surveys expenses for Internal Revenue Allotment purposes amounted to P500,000. The other allocations included in SB No. 3 are additional allowance for the new six MTCC judges for P158,000; fund for Task Force on Codification P40,000; city's counterpart for the implementation of the project flood hazard and vulnerability mapping of Iloilo City by the PAG-ASA (DOST) and the city for P200,000; fuel, oil and lubricants expenses of the Philippine National Police P235,000; funds for City Assessor's office P300,000; fule, oil and lubricants expenses for the Traffic Management and Engineering Unit P300,000; Crisis Management Office P60,000; Waterfront COMPAC P20,000 and City Tourism Development Office for P10,000.
There are also allocations made for the Population Census for P288,000. This covers the honorarium of 360 city government volunteer workers at P800 each. The office supplies expenses of the Traffic Technical Working Group amounted to P50,000.
