DCCs alerted on effects of monsoon rains
Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Regional Director Rosario Cabrera alerted all the municipal and provincial disaster coordinating councils as heavy rains brought by typhoon Egay start to pour in the different parts of the region.
Cabrera said all the disaster councils are directed to monitor all the flood and landslide prone areas in "Even if the region is not hardly hit by typhoons the monsoon rains can cause floods and landslide," said Cabrera.
Local Government Units (LGUs) identified as flood and landslide prone areas like several towns in the province of Antique and the towns of Alimodian and Leon in Iloilo are requested to take precautionary measures while the relocation of the affected families are yet to be implemented.
Cabrera recommended the relocation of affected families in landslide prone areas if the situation worsens.
