Not a loser but a winner
Allow me to share to all of you my dear readers an article from Francis J. Kong's One Day at a Time. FYI, FJK is one of my favorite inspirational writers. Actually he got the article from his friend named Che Yeneza 'bout the difference between winners and losers.
-
The Winner is always part of the answer; the Loser is always part of the problem.
-
The Winner always has a program; the Loser always has an excuse.
-
The Winner says, "Let me do it for you"; the Loser says, "That is not my job."
-
The Winner sees an answer for every problem; the Loser sees a problem for every answer.
-
The Winner says, "It may be difficult but it is possible"; the Loser says, "It may be possible but it is too impossible."
-
When a Winner makes a mistake, he says, "I was wrong"; when a Loser makes a mistake, he says, "It wasn't my fault."
-
A winner makes commitments; a Loser makes promises.
-
Winners have dreams; Losers have schemes.
-
Winners say, "I must do something"; Losers says, "Something must be done."
-
Winners are a part of the team; Losers are apart from the team.
-
Winners see the gain; Losers see the pain.
-
Winners see the possibilities; Losers see the problems.
-
Winners believe in win-win; Losers believe for them to win someone has to lose.
-
Winners see the potential; Losers see the past.
-
Winners are like thermostats; Losers are like thermometers.
-
Winners choose what they say; Losers say what they choose.
-
Winners use hard arguments but soft words; Losers use soft arguments but hard words.
-
Winners stand firm on values but compromise on petty things; Losers stand firm on petty things but compromise on values.
-
Winners follow the philosophy of empathy: "Don't do to others what you would not want them to do to you"; Losers follow the philosophy: "Do it to others before they do it to you."
-
Winners make it happen; Losers let it happen.
I may say, the mirror has always two faces. If you're not a winner definitely you're a loser. However, it is in the personality of an individual that greatly determines whether he's a winner or not. FJK said and I quoted, "Life is not what happens, but how we take it." Winners have the passion of pursuing dreams and making dreams into reality. They have the perseverance and the determination to achieve their goals in life. If there will be instances that they failed, they never quit. Winners do believe that the greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time they fall. Thus, they do the best of everything and whatever mistakes they've encountered, these serve as lessons and make their journey to life more fruitful, more meaningful.
Losers, on the other hand, always say no, always refuses. They may have the best of skills and talents but don't have the urge of achieving great success. They are contented with the second rank or the last choice and never been selling themselves to be the highlight of a show. They would never look back to what have happened in the past. They never thought of good lessons they may have in each failure that they encounter. For them, they are losers, and the next time they will do something, before it happens they can predict that they will fail again.
To all the nurses who passed the June 2007 NLE, Congratulations! You deserve to be applauded. You are winners by your choice. And those who didn't make it; don't feel that you are a loser. Remember what I've mentioned above, okay? You are a winner in your own way. This may not be the lucky time for you yet, but the next time you take NLE you say, "I can and will make it," rather than the other way around.
