Campaign on int'l migration and intermarriages set
Residents of Iloilo and Guimaras will have the opportunity to know more about working or migrating abroad as well as intermarriages in the coming days.
The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) is set conduct its annual Community Education Program (CEP) dubbed "Pangingibang bansa: Handa ka na ba?" in Iloilo and Guimaras from September 2 to 9, 2007.
The CEP is an annual information campaign conducted by the CFO in coordination with various government agencies, non-government organizations, local government unis and academic institutions. This seeks amongst others to raise public awareness on various issues concerning migration, intermarriages and existing government policies and programs directed against illegal recruitment, documentation fraud, and human trafficking.
The CEP will be undertaken in Iloilo City on September 2, 3, 4 and 6; in Oton, Iloilo on September 5; and Jordan, Guimaras on September 6 to 8.
During those dates, together with representatives of other government agencies, the CFO officers will conduct activities such as symposia, pulong/pulong/dialogues with NGOs, religious leaders/members, local government units, community leaders/members, press briefings and radio interviews.
According to the CFO, approximately 2,000 attendees are expected to take part in this leg of the CEP activities.
