RTWPB-6 set to deliberate on wage hike petitions
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) will convene any time this week to deliberate whether or not to grant the wage increase petitioned by various labor groups in Western Visayas.
RTWPB Board Secretary, Atty. Calixto Valaquio said the board has completed its series of public consultations held at the capital cities and towns of the provinces in the region, including Boracay Island.
A post consultation was held last August 29 in Bacolod City, the source of two petitions that were filed at the Labor Department in July.
Valaquio said the members of the board made a commitment not to delay the decision.
The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) and the Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) through their local chapters in Negros Occidental filed two separate petitions in July.
The TUCP petitioned for a P75.00 across the board wage increase while the KMU opted for P125.
The board, to include the Regional Director of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)--Western Visayas as chair, regional directors of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) as vice-chairmen and two representatives each from the management and labor sector will meet to discuss said petitions.
