CFO conducts consultation on realities of international migration, intermarriages
The Commission on Filipino Overseas (CFO) of the Office of the President is now conducting its annual Community Education Program (CEP) entitled "Pangingibang Bansa: Handa ka na ba?" in Iloilo and Guimaras. The consultation started last September 2 and will end on September 9, 2007.
The CEP aims to seek awareness on different issues concerning migration, intermarriages and existing government policies and programs directed against illegal recruitment, documentation fraud and human trafficking.
The education program started last September 2 and 3 in Iloilo City. The same education program will continue in Iloilo City on September 6. While, on September 5, the team will proceed to Oton and in Jordan, Guimaras on September 6 and 8.
The CFO will conduct school symposiums in West Visayas State Univesity, Guimaras State College, dialogues with non-government organizations, religious leaders, local government units and community leaders.
Yesterday, the CFO composed of Manila-based team composed of Minda Cabilao-Valencia, Aileen Macapili and Sr. Bernadeth Guzman of the executive director of St. Mary Euphrasia Foundation Inc. for Center for Overseas Workers. Regional Consular Office 6 Director Victor Espanola, and Overseas Workers and Welfare Administration 6 OIC director James Mendiola and Reynaldo Pigar also of OWWA had a courtesy call with Mayor Jerry Treñas.
