To awaken the hearts and minds of the young generation on the worsening social problems such as teenage pregnancies, incidence of live-in arrangements, promiscuity and violence, a song writing and documentary film-making competition will be held in the 2nd International Congress on the Education of the Youth in Love, Sex and Life.
Dr. Antonio Torralba, Congress Director said the interest of young people will be drummed up in topics such as the Joys and Travails of Chastity Education; Character Education and Human Sexuality: Meeting the Challenges of Today's Environment; Educating in Love: Teaching Love Beyond Abstinence, among others, through songs and documentary films. The theme for the competition is "I keep Love Real."
The four-day congress which is slated on November 19-22 in Manila is organized by EduChild, Intermedia, Developmental Advocacy for Women Volunteerism (DAWV Foundation, Inc and Department of Education.
The prizes at stake in the competition is only secondary, what matters most is the commitment and ability of the people to respond effectively in different challenges such as teenage pregnancies, incidence of live-in arrangements, promiscuity and violence, said Torralba.
The prizes at stake for song writing competition in the regional level for high school, college and graduates categories is P10,000 cash for 1st prize; P5,000 worth of gifts for 2nd prize and P3,000 worth of gifts for 3rd prize.
The prizes in the documentary film-making competition, which is open to all amateur filmmakers is P15,000 cash for 1st prize; P5,000 worth of gifts for 2nd prize and P3,000 worth of gifts for the 3rd prize winner. In the national competition, the grand winners for high school and college categories in songwriting competition will receive P40,000 cash and P20,000 in gifts for entrants and P30,000 in cash for school and P10,000 in gifts.
In documentary film-making, 1st prize winner will receive P70,000 cash prize and trophy; P50,000 cash and trophy for 2nd prize winner and P30,000 cash and trophy for 3rd prize winner. Deadlines for the submission of entries will be on September 30, 2007.
The congress will open the eyes of the young generation and any other person to become a responsible person while the sacredness of the marriage vows is protected. There are cases where chastity still works.
The congress will reverse the '67 Sexual Revolution with Real Love Revolution, said Torralba.
