Treñas abashed by burglary in solon's house
City Mayor Jerry Treñas was ashamed that that house of Congressman Arthur Defensor Sr. in Mandurriao district was victimized by unidentified robbers last Wednesday night. He immediately ordered Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) Director Sr. Supt. Wesley Barayuga to exert effort in identifying the suspects and eventually put them behind bars.
Police has yet to ascertain what the robbers carted away from Defensor's house. The congressman reportedly asked the police investigator to wait for him to arrive before they can make a crime scene investigation. The solon was in Manila when the incident happened.
The incident happened early morning Wednesday. It was discovered by Defensor's househelp early in the morning. They suspect that the robbers entered the Defensor compound by passing the adjacent Mango Tree Restaurant.
Once at the compound, the suspects first went to the warehouse owned by Lambunao Mayor Reynor Gonzales but left after they failed to find anything of value. Defensor's wife Cosette and Gonzales's wife are sisters.
The robbery incident that took place in Defensor's residence is only one of the series of robbery cases recorded at the Mandurriao police station.
Last week, the house of Lemuel Fernandez, publisher of The Daily Guardian, was also victimized by unidentified burglars.
The chief executive said Mandurriao is a very big area for the police to watch. There are number of subdivisions and commercial areas including bars and restaurants at Smallville Complex. The city has allocated enough gasoline funds for Mandurriao police but sometimes things happen beyond their way, the mayor said.
