Ex-RPA rebel killed, another wounded in firefight
BACOLOD CITY -- A former member of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA-ABB) was killed while his companion was seriously wounded in an encounter with an unidentified armed group Saturday afternoon in Manapla town in Negros Occidental.
Sr. Insp. Jose Laboyo, chief of the Manapla PNP identified the fatality as 32-year old Jumar Solivio of Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City.
Solivio died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.
His companion was identified only as a certain Boy who is also an RPA-ABB ex-member and still being treated for gunshot wounds at a hospital in Bacolod, Laboyo said.
The police chief said the relatives of a certain Boy requested the police not to identify him yet "for security reasons".
Laboyo said initial investigations revealed that Solivio was shot by still unidentified persons at Hacienda Guin-ulayan, Brgy. Tortosa in Manapla at about 3:30 pm while on his way to a farm.
Laboyo said recovered from the scene were 13 empty shells of 45 caliber pistol and M16 rifle. (PNA)
