Test landing at new Bacolod Airport held
After a series of flight checks and a successful first landing, the Bacolod-Silay Airport is now ready to be commissioned and eventually opened next month.
This was the assessment Airport Manager Edgar Mangalili during the recent visit of the members of the Negros Association of Information Officers (NAGIO) to the airport.
Using a New Zealand flight check aircraft, the airport of international standards was checked on its arrival and departure procedures.
No major changes have been recommended so far, Mangalili told PIA.
He explained there would be drafting of flight data as far as the airport is concerned.
"That includes aeronautical information and other data that will be published in the international publication that will last for two months."
After the publication the airport will be commissioned and opened for public, he added.
Necessary equipment such as x-ray machines, tractor mower and other important ones have already been procured but are loaned to the old airport in Bacolod City. It will be transferred in time for the opening of the new facility. (PIA-LOL)
