AFP unmasks 32 communist-backed brgy, SK bets in Western Visayas
Thirty-two candidates in Western Visayas vying for elective office on Monday's polls are reportedly handpicked by the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).
The number is expected to reach at least 84 with identities of 52 others subject of additional verification by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) here.
And these are confirmed communist-backed candidates, AFP Captain Lowen Gil Marquez said in a press conference called yesterday. The confirmation, he said, were taken from two recent encounters of government troops against the NPAs, armed wing of the CPP.
"Do not vote for them. Do not vote for these pests," said Captain Marquez in his public appeal. "They are out to bring destruction and chaos as pushed by the red-flag bearing terrorist communist organization and its legal front organizations."
The 32, he added, were convenient beneficiaries of CPP-NPA led harassments in respective barangays represented. As such, Captain Marquez said additional military and police patrol teams will be dispatched in these areas of concern.
"The terrorist CPP/NPA/NDF and its front organizationi has a specific comprehensive plan and mission to their different terrorist front sectoral leaders from the farmers, workers, women and students to run for barangay captain, councilor and sanggunian kabataan in various Western Visayas towns," Captain Marquez said. "This well-planned legal terrorism maneuver was personally checked by a top communist cadre identified as Ka Abo, a former League of Filipino Students leader from the University of the Philippines."
"Let us not allow them and their deception..this kind of parasite and pestilence in the Filipino society must be neutralized – they must not be allowed to continue with their anti-development actions and harassments done to the community," Captain Marquez stressed.
Majority of the local bets tagged by the AFP were new recruits, The News Today (TNT) further learned.
