Iloilo Kawayan Market Week 2007 opens at Robinsons Iloilo
To affirm Iloilo's position as the Bamboo Capital of the country, the Iloilo Kawayan Market Week has been held annually for four (4) years now since its launching in 2004. The event highly contributed to the development of the local bamboo industry and created greater awareness and appreciation of the public on the potential of bamboo products.
For this year, the Iloilo Kawayan Market Week and Hablon Fashion Fair will feature the Bamboo Raw Material Showcase in coordination with the Bureau of Domestic Trade (BDT) – DTI's attached agency. This event will involve an exhibit of bamboo products including semi-processed bamboo that the Iloilo manufacturers can supply.
Other activities for the week-long event include: Hablon Moda (Nov. 12, 6 pm) – a fashion show featuring the creations of local designers using handwoven fabrics and Bamboo Symposium (Nov. 13, 1:30 pm) with the theme “Expanding Market and Business Opportunities."
Products of twenty-five (25) manufacturers of bamboo furniture and furnishings and hablon products as well as the designs of six (6) local designers will be displayed and sold at the fair. The exhibit is open to the public on November 12 to 18, 2007 at the Fountain Area and Ground Circle of Robinson's Place – Iloilo from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.
An opening program will be held at the Fountain Area of Robinson's Place-Iloilo on November 12, 2007 at 4:00 pm with Presidential Assistant for Panay and Guimaras Hon. Raul N. Banias as the main guest. Expected to be present are Governor Niel D. Tupas, Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, First Ladies Mrs. Myrna C. Tupas and Mrs. Rosalie S.
