Metro Iloilo-Guimaras who's who in leaders summit
The Metro Iloilo-Guimaras Leaders Summit set on December 14, 2007 will be a gathering of the region's Who's Who, organizers of the historic event announced.
Leaders from Iloilo City and the Metro Iloilo-Guimaras area based locally as well as in other parts of the country will be invited to share their ideas and proposed actions on how to make the city and region a premier place in the future.
Officials from the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), which are both presentors of the summit, are also coming.
AusAID and CIDA are both supporting Iloilo City and the Metro Iloilo-Guimaras region in their various initiatives through the Local Governance Development Program (LGDP) and the Urban Partnership Program Philippines (UPPP) which is implemented by the Canadian Urban Institute (CUI).
Mayor Jerry Treñas, lead convenor of the summit, will be inviting personalities that include Jaro Archbishop Angel Lagdameo, international awardee Dr. Josette Biyo, and House Majority Floor Leader Arthur Defensor.
Also on the list of invitees are business and industry leaders like Rex Drilon, Marissa Segovia, Henry Babiera, Rev. Fr. Manuel Vergara, Dr. Glenn Aguilar and former Tourism Secretary Narzalina Lim.
The Metro Iloilo-Guimaras Leaders Summit aims to promote sustainable development of Metro Iloilo and Guimaras by sharing the recognized practices of Iloilo City , Guimaras and Metro Iloilo local governments.
With the theme "The Power of One," it also aims to foster sustainable partnerships with the business sector, donor organizations and non-government organizations in attracting investments for priority development projects.
