PNP cites need for a world class security preparation in Boracay
Boracay Police Station
BORACAY ISLAND – There is a need for a world –class police protection in Boracay with the influx of visitors in the island.
This was raised by PNP spokesman, Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao during last Saturday's taping of the Talakayan sa Isyung Pulis (TSIP) in Boracay Island.
Pagdilao cited how the tourism industry had suffered in the early 2000 after the Abu Say terrorist group raided a resort in Palawan.
"We do not want it to happen again. The police play a great role in presenting an image of peace and order for potential foreign and local tourists who were visiting our tourism destination such as Boracay," Pagdilao said.
During the taping Pagdilao together with Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director, C/Supt. Wilfredo Dulay discussed the various security preparations in the island.
Gen. Dulay said t the PNP leadership has been providing full support for the needs of the PNP personnel in Boracay and at the same time cooperate with several government enforcement agencies such as the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to secure the renowned island.
The PNP projected a 20 percent increase in tourist arrival by December from the more or less 500,000 tourists recorded in 2006.
